“STANAPAN”- BREASTFEEDING
An Important Ritual

Breastfeeding is highly recommended to every mother and to enhance milk production mothers are provided a balanced diet chart to follow. Along with this, a positive frame of mind is essential since a mother’s state of mind, emotions, her actions, what she sees and hears during this period can impact the baby’s health as per the Indian culture.

Breastfeeding has a direct impact on the baby’s stomach, his/her appetite, digestion, and state of mind.

We focus on breastfeeding, the position of the baby, the time period, and creating a healthy atmosphere around the mother and the baby.

Mother’s Touch Post-Partum Care Rituals

Message to Individual Mothers by Dr. Rekha Chaudhari

“Once the baby is in your arms, it’s time to get familiar with your new lifestyle of having someone new to look after. At the same time, it’s the time when you need to look after yourself too. Post-Partum Care Rituals are important and need to be performed from day 2 to day 12. Some of them are:

- 01

Morning Empty Stomach Rituals

It involves providing the mother with a balanced diet with various herbal concoctions to purify the system. The diet is planned such that the body receives all the necessary minerals, vitamins, and nutrition keeping in mind that the mother has to feed the baby too.

- 02

Massage For Full Body

A full body massage can be performed by a professional ‘Dai’or you yourself can do it. It consists of 60 mins of massage. Essential oils are used for the message to relieve stress, aid in deep sleep, and provide overall relaxation.

- 03

Head Massage

A 12-day hair massage, each day for 15mins, with oil without washing the hair is considered very important. As a mother can be mentally tired, a coconut oil head massage can be relaxing and calming.

- 04

Sunbath

Massage is followed by a sunbath for both the child and mother as they sit under the sun without any interference early in the morning. It helps in building Vitamin D in your body.

- 05

Bathing Rituals

The bathing ritual holds considerable significance in the traditional post-partum care. Either before the sunbath or after the sunbath, once the massage is over, you can follow a specific Mothers Touch procedure of bathing.

- 06

Towel Shek

This ritual is meant to cure back and shoulder pain. It can be done by a ‘Dai’ or you herself. Towel bath rituals can be combined with aromatherapy rituals also.

- 07

Belly Binding

This ritual helps tuck the loose muscles inside the stomach to naturally get it back to its earlier shape.

- 08

Shek Shekoti

This ritual can be highly beneficial when you enjoy it in a calm and relaxed state. We recommend going with the Mother’s Touch Dai for this step as they are highly trained.

The aroma generated by the herbs used calms the nervous system, gives relief from the built-up fatigue, and helps relaxing muscles so the pain can subside, and the body can relax. It also boosts your mental health.
